Key Stage 2 Results

Our children work diligently at Gomer and we are proud that we ensure a balanced and broad curriculum alongside preparing our learners for their end of KS2 SATs. We are required by legislation to publish specific information in relation to our end of year results. We are continually striving to improve these standards. We are performing very, very well yet continue to strive to achieve higher attainment alongside enabling children from across the school to receive a balanced curriculum that does not only teach children to the SATs test.  Our most recent performance, which is the highest of any Gosport school in 2018, is as follows:

82%of our pupils achieved the expected standard in ReadingWriting and Mathematics. Therefore, Gomer Junior School are 18% above the floor standard set by the DfE. Go Gomer! we are delighted that our focussed whole school improvement has impacted positively on the children’s results and recognise that this is a team effort from when the children join us to when they leave.

The required progress scores, to have achieved the floor standards are -5 in reading, -5 in maths and -7 in writing.

  • Our READING progress score from KS1 – KS2  is -0.6 (with a confidence interval -2.2  – +1.0)
  • Our WRITING progress score from KS1 – KS2 is +3.0 (with a confidence interval 1.5 – 4.5)
  • Our MATHEMATICS progress score from KS1 – KS2 is -2.5 (with a confidence interval -3.9 – -1.1). As a result, this is the first key priority in our SIP.

Please note, of 60 pupils, 58 completed the SATs. 2 children were considered ‘below the level of the test’ and therefore were not entered. Please note, they are still included in the statistics (3.2%)  despite not completing the tests.

Nationally, 65% of pupils achieved the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Therefore, Gomer Junior School are above the floor standard set by the DfE.

Average Progress

  1. Our READING progress score, from KS1 – KS2 is 2.4 (with a confidence interval 0.8 – 4.0).
  2. Our WRITING progress score is 3.7 (with a confidence interval of 2.1 – 5.3)
  3. Our MATHEMATICS progress score is 0.2 (with a confidence interval of -1.2 – 1.6.

Progress scores have been centred around 0, with most schools performing within the range of  -5 to 5. A positive score (all of our results) means that pupils at Gomer Junior School on average, do better at KS2 compared with those of similar prior attainment nationally.

We are rightly proud of this. We will continue to strive to improve upon standards.

All children are given a raw score for their test which is then converted to a scaled score. The expected standards score is a scaled score of 100. Gomer Junior is above the expected standard.

8% of pupils achieved a ‘high level of attainment’ in reading, writing and maths combined. It is important to note than the national average is 5%.
